I would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2012 Cumberland XC Classic. The coaches, the runners, the parents who helped out in many ways to pull off the meet -- and those who came to cheer! It was an amazing meet. The Schalick Boys team dominated the scoring with a perfect 15. On the girls side, Woodstown repeated as team champs, narrowly defeating the gals from Gloucester, who have improved immensely over the course of the season.

Although cross country is primarily a team sport, I would like to acknowledge the individual Boys champ, Sam Mercoli. He took the race out from the start and just ran away from everyone. The girls race was much different. Gloucester's Cathy Valez, who was third at the 2 mile point, methodically turned it up a gear and motored away, winning by 23 seconds.
